Our Specialised Facilities for Co-Curricular Programs

Whether students are interested in sport, theatre, or working with animals, our co-curricular activities – delivered from our professional facilities – are designed to help them reach their full potential.
Sports Facilities
Our campus offers amazing sporting facilities for budding sportspeople and athletes partaking in co-curriculars, high-performance sports subjects, or physical education. Whether students are passionate about AFL, athletics, basketball, cricket, cross country, hockey, netball, soccer, tennis, touch rugby and volleyball, we have dynamic facilities to support their journey.
Assumption College has five manicured turf sporting ovals, including Carroll, Shandon, Austin, Sebastian, and Plaza oval. We also have a range of multipurpose centres and specialised sporting spaces for students-athletes of every discipline to hone their skills and make memories:
- The Carroll Oval is overlooked by the bordering Sporting & Community Pavilion, aptly named in honour of Alumni (Class of 1978) and sporting great Neale Daniher. It is used by student athletes to participate in a range of team field sports and athletic activities.
- The Gonzales Centre – affectionately known as “the Gonz” – is a multi-purpose space used for indoor sports such as basketball and volleyball, performances and full school assemblies.
- The High Performance Fitness Centre is utilised for students undertaking lessons in High Performance Sport, or as part of their development and coaching program for various co-curricular teams. Boarding students may also access this space after school with supervision from our Strength and Conditioning Coaches.
- The Brother Celcus Lyons & Halpin turf and sand courts offer the ideal conditions for students to nurture their skills in tennis and hockey.
Performing & Creative Arts Facilities
Our performing and creative arts students are supported to nurture their skills and confidence with a range of excellent facilities for practice, performance and exhibition of works.
Performing arts students have access to the Theatrette and 3 dance studios, as well as specialist musical spaces in the Champagnat Centre, including a recording studio, multi-purpose learning spaces, and 4 soundproof rooms for private practice. These spaces are specially designed to offer students professional facilities to foster their creativity and development.
Creative arts students can use the Hermitage Centre. This centre is home to all things creative arts – from textiles and painting, to woodwork and pottery. It is also home to the co-curricular photography team, offering everything students need to edit and develop their works. The annual Visual Art and Technology Exhibition is also hosted in the Hermitage Centre, showcasing all of the amazing and inspiring works that students have produced throughout the year.
Agriculture & Animal Studies Facilities
Students passionate about agricultural practices and working with animals are supported to prosper with our purpose-built Drusilla building. This specially designed facility is the perfect space for Agriculture Sciences, Animal Studies, and senior applied learning activities. This facility provides students with modern learning spaces, including general classrooms, a science laboratory, an animal treatment room, and a large project area.
Additionally, Drusilla features associated spaces such as livestock yards, paddocks, a chicken coop, a greenhouse, student amenities, storage areas, and a series of outdoor learning areas, utilised by the co-curricular Sheep Showing & Judging team. These specialised areas provide the ideal, real-world environment for students to nurture their skills working with animals and prepare for careers in agriculture.
