Assumption College prides itself on its inclusivity and celebration of diversity. We recognise that every student learns differently and that learning support is most effective when it responds to the individual.
‘Learning diversity’ refers to the infinite variety of life experiences and attributes a child brings to their formal learning at school. This includes academic ability, cultural background, language, wellbeing, and learning preferences.
Our Personalised Learning team endeavours to support all students who would benefit from a personalised approach to supporting them to optimise their educational potential. This support extends across a broad range of needs, including students with diverse learning, cultural and support needs, together with those considered likely to achieve exceptional academic outcomes.
The Personalised Learning team consists of the Personalised Learning Leader, Personalised Learning Lead Teachers, a Speech Pathologist, Learning Support Officers and an Administration Officer. Together, this multidisciplinary team provides targeted, evidence-informed support across the College.
The team works closely with the Wellness Centre counsellors, Health Centre nurses, House Leaders, Learning Leaders, Learning Mentors, and the Pathways team to provide a holistic and collaborative approach to supporting all students.
Our Personalised Learning team works in partnership with students, parents/carers, teachers, and external support services, to ensure that students are supported to optimise their performance, and to achieve their social, spiritual, physical and academic goals.
myBeing has been created to provide students with a holistic understanding of the life skills required to be positive, active and safe members of their communities, now as students and in their futures as adults. The program recognises that wellbeing and learning are deeply connected.
The aim of myBeing is to engage students in activities that allow them to develop those skills that are often not taught in a ‘traditional’ classroom environment, including emotional regulation, respectful relationships, resilience, and personal responsibility.

The structure of myBeing sees students rotate through the topics throughout the year. Their teachers will be the experts on the topic and teach that topic only to each group of students as they rotate. This model ensures high-quality, engaging delivery and consistency across year levels.
This ensures that teachers are presenting lessons in their areas of expertise and able to create lessons that are engaging and suited to each student in the rotation. Students will learn and complete activities that are mapped to the Victorian Curriculum. Throughout the year students will have the opportunity to hear from external experts on a variety of topics who will support the learning that is happening in the classroom.
Whether it’s academic guidance, skill development, wellbeing, or building confidence, our dedicated team works closely with students and families to create pathways for success.
