Principal’s Welcome
I would like to open by extending a warm welcome to all our families at College. As with each new year, it is an opportunity for a new start and with that comes a hope and an anticipation of new beginnings.
Indeed, the College motto Quae Supra Quaere – to seek the things that are above – resonates with the notion of beginning a new chapter in your story and being part of another chapter in this College’s over 130-year history.
In 2026, that new chapter offers new opportunities to be an integral part of College life at Assumption. To that end, we will encourage your children to be the best version of themselves. We will also encourage them to share their gifts with the community so that we can continue to be a place where our students succeed, a place that sets the highest of standards, but most importantly, a place which welcomes all who enter
our gates.
Our Marist schools are founded upon the five characteristics of Presence, Simplicity, Family Spirit, Love of Work, and In the Way of Mary and these values underpin the culture of Assumption College and its approach to learning and teaching. We seek to develop young people to be active and global citizens within and beyond our communities; citizens who will make a positive difference to the communities into which they will enter.
As such, our vertically structured Learning Mentor Groups continue to provide great support to students and families. Knowing one key staff member who knows your child and your family more intimately over the course of your journey at Assumption College is of tremendous benefit, ensuring support remains constant from year to year. In this way relationships have the opportunity to mature and deepen as your child grows.
The ongoing improvement of learning experiences for our students continues to be a significant and important focus for the College as we proactively respond to student learning needs with the development of our new Learning Framework and Whole School Approach to Student Engagement.
We wish our students and teachers the very best as they engage with learning in new and challenging ways so that they can connect the knowledge and skills they develop to the world beyond Assumption College. We hope that their learning journey is one of challenge and success and one in which ultimately, your child grows and thrives.
As we begin this new year, I invite you to be in partnership with the College as we work together to support your child in helping them find their fullest potential.
I look forward to walking on the journey with you throughout the year.
