Inspiring Positive Change

At Assumption College, we are passionate about nurturing students to make a meaningful impact in their community. We find purpose in guiding and developing our students to be reflective individuals who embody the Marist characteristics; who grow in the faith and knowledge of Jesus Christ and the gospel values of love of self and of one another.

Our co-curricular community service program supports students’ holistic development through exploration of their Christian faith and fostering a commitment to nurturing and improving our society. Our programs are inclusive and welcoming of students of all religions and backgrounds, promoting lasting unity, diversity, and respect within our community and beyond.

Game Changers

Game Changers is our Marist Youth Ministry, which provides students with a platform for the further development, exploration and enactment of their Christian faith. It provides a supportive, nurturing, and giving environment where students can enjoy personal and community growth through regular meetings, retreats, and the opportunity for service.

The Game Changers program utilises three tracks – built on the idea of journeys – that relate to the stories of Jesus, Mary and St Marcellin. Students traverse these journeys throughout six year levels, spending two years on each track.

Participating students are invited to attend a variety of events hosted by Marist Schools Australia, such as the Regional Retreat Day, Twilight Retreat and the Marist Youth Gathering. These retreats offer a fantastic way for students to connect with like-minded peers and share their views, and deepen their faith.

Game Changers Tracks

The three tracks that students traverse during their Game Changers journey include:

1. Le Rosey

For students in years 7 and 8, the Le Rosey track is focused on the formation of identity and a sense of community. This is achieved via the study and analysis of the stories that teach us about Jesus growing up in Nazareth and Marcellin’s youth in Le Rosey. The Le Rosey track includes a service project within the school community, where students will foster the spirit of giving to benefit the community.

2. La Valla

Students in years 9 and 10 move on to the La Valla track, which provides students with a structure used to explore concepts of Christian leadership and service. During this journey, students delve into Jesus’ ministry in Capernaum and Marcellin’s times in La Valla to form a deep connection to these features of faith. The La Valla track also includes a service project that extends to the greater community, nurturing students’ giving nature and bringing greater benefits to their whole community.

3. Hermitage

Senior students in years 11 and 12 focus on solidarity and vocation through the Hermitage track. In this stage of the track, students explore the work of Marcellin and his early Brothers at the Hermitage alongside stories of Jesus and his disciples in Jerusalem. The Hermitage track also includes a solidarity camp, providing students with practical experience in community service and a chance to further develop their connection to their faith.

Duke of Edinburgh

In addition to our Game Changers program, Assumption College also proudly offer students the opportunity to achieve the internationally recognised Duke of Ed Bronze, Silver and Gold Level certification. This certification is intended to support the achievement of a holistic and well-rounded education through participation in exciting and challenging experiences – like adventure, sports, and volunteering for a worthy cause that’s close to your heart.

The Duke of Edinburgh framework offers students fun and exciting opportunities to expand their skills, fitness, explore, and give back to the community. In order to earn the certification, students must dedicate at least one hour per week to volunteering, physical activity, and skill development. They must also commit to trying new experiences, then once they reach the gold level, they must spend no less than five days and four nights away from their usual residence with a new group.

Our team at Assumption College is here to support students through this journey to help them earn their certification while growing and enjoying new experiences in a safe and fun way.

Building a Brighter Future Through Community

We believe students are the key to a better tomorrow. That’s why our community service program inspires students to grow in their faith, foster meaningful connections, and make a positive impact on their community. Whether through our Game Changers program, Duke of Edinburgh certification, or other co-curricular opportunities, we are here to support students on their journey of personal and spiritual growth.
