Whether your child is transferring schools or seeking a fresh start, we’re here to help them transition seamlessly into our vibrant learning community.

  • Out-of-cycle applications for Years 8–12 are subject to availability and may be waitlisted.
  • Offers are typically extended within 2–3 weeks of your application or as places become available.
  • Successful applicants are encouraged to commence at the beginning of the next semester where possible.

Enrolment Priority Considerations

At the discretion of the Principal, some applications may receive priority based on the following criteria:

  • Family associations: Siblings of current students.
  • Religious background: Students attending Catholic primary schools within the local parish.
  • Place of residence: Proximity to the catchment area.
  • Boarding students: Applications are welcomed from a broader geographic area, with offers subject to availability.

Please note that late applications will be waitlisted and considered only if places become available. To learn more about priority consideration please refer to the Enrolment and Exclusions (Boarding and Day School) Policy.

Assumption College Catchment Area

Enrolment decisions are made in accordance with the Enrolment and Exclusions (Boarding and Day School) Policy. The catchment area is a criterion for selection and priority order of enrolment for applications from prospective Day Students.

The catchment area is defined by Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools.

Families whose primary residence is outside of the catchment area are welcome to apply, but please note an offer is not guaranteed.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does enrolment priority work?

Our College reviews every application individually, but offers are made in line with our established priority order.

Boarding applicants may receive additional priority over these categories. All enrolment offers are made at the Principal’s discretion and are dependent on capacity, available resources, and the College’s ability to support each student’s needs.

Is an enrolment interview required?

Yes! Every applicant is invited to an enrolment interview with our College Leaders. This is a chance for us to get to know your child and family, and for you to learn more about our community.

Interviews are held in September, with virtual options available for families at a distance.

What documents do I need to provide with the enrolment application?

The following supplementary information is required when submitting an application with Assumption College:

  • Birth certificate
  • Most recent school report
  • NAPLAN report
  • Baptism information if applicable
  • Visa or citizenship if student born overseas
  • Immunisation history statement
  • Custodial arrangements (if any)

*You don’t need to wait for Grade 5 NAPLAN results to submit your application. Late NAPLAN reports can be emailed to the Registrar.

How long does it take to receive an offer of placement?

For applicants seeking enrolment in Years 8–12, please allow up to three weeks from the time of application submission to receive an outcome. This timeframe allows for the application to be reviewed, an enrolment interview to be scheduled and completed, and a reference check with your child’s current school. Please note that Year 7, 2028 applicants follow a separate enrolment schedule.

What happens after I submit the enrolment form?

Once you submit an enrolment application form, our College Registrar will review your submission. If any documents or additional information are missing, they will contact you to discuss what is needed. If no further details are required at this stage, the Registrar will be in touch to schedule an enrolment interview, subject to available enrolment places. Please note, enrolment applications are reviewed case by case.

How will the school communicate updates about my child’s enrolment?

Our College Registrar will keep you informed of your child’s enrolment status via email. If you would like additional updates or have any further questions, please contact the Registrar directly.

What if I miss the applications closing date?

Contact our College Registrar as soon as possible via registrar@assumption.vic.edu.au. Late applications automatically go on a waiting list.

Are siblings or alumni family members given priority?

We honour the time-honoured tradition of family connections at Assumption College. At the discretion of the Principal, priority may be given to:

  • Siblings of current students
  • Children of alumni, staff, or those affiliated with the Marist community

For more details, refer to our enrolment policy.

Do students need to be Baptised Catholic to attend?

While we proudly serve our local Catholic families, Assumption College is guided by faith and inclusivity. We warmly welcome applications from students of all backgrounds who value a values-driven Catholic education.

Please note: If applications exceed available places, our enrolment policy will determine priority.

Can we tour the College facilities?

Of course! We encourage families to visit and see if Assumption College is the right fit. Our tours provide a chance to explore the facilities, meet staff, and ask questions—all while respecting the privacy of our boarders and minimising disruptions to classes.

What transport options are available?

Assumption College provides a safe, reliable, and convenient bus service in partnership with Seymour Coaches. To meet the evolving needs of our growing community, bus routes are reviewed annually. Early completion of the Bus Service Application Form is highly encouraged, as it helps us plan stops and timetables efficiently before the start of the new academic year.

The College provides an undercover bike shelter on site. Students must bring their own bike lock to secure their bikes. Please note that the use of electric scooters and electric bikes is not permitted on campus.

What wellbeing and mental health support is available?

Our Wellbeing Team includes registered nurses, counsellors, and psychologists who work closely with students and families. They provide personalised strategies to support mental health, resilience, and success, ensuring every student feels supported and valued.

How does the school promote inclusion and diversity?

Inspired by Marist traditions, we foster a culture of compassion, kindness, and respect. Students and families from all walks of life are welcomed and embraced, creating a community that celebrates diversity and encourages personal growth.
