At Assumption College, we are committed to a curriculum that enables our students to be successful learners in a rapidly changing world dominated by digital technology. Therefore, personal computers and array of online resources are invaluable to our learning and teaching program.

We believe in a growth mindset where students know that they are in control of their own destinies and that through hard work and perseverance – especially after making mistakes – they will become smarter and succeed academically.

Our broad curriculum allows students to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to enter the next phases of learning and life.

Year 7 focuses on breadth and balance. Students are encouraged to explore a wide range of subjects guided by their interests, talents and goals alongside advice from parents and school mentors.

During years 8 through 10 the focus shifts to our dynamic myMap program – personalised learning where core classes are combined with electives.

This approach empowers students and allows them to explore pathways towards senior school certificates.

Alternative Pathways

Assumption College students are offered a variety of pathways as they consider the best way to complete their secondary education.

Alongside a purely academic stream are practical approaches – the Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL), Vocational Education and Training (VET) and school-based apprenticeships and traineeships (SBATs).

An SBAT is an apprenticeship or traineeship undertaken by students enrolled in VCE or VCAL, with at least one day each week spent on the job or in training.

The Assumption Pathways team is dedicated to helping students identify and navigate the path that best suits their needs and goals.
